4 Questions with Cooper Scott
As a GMV software engineer, Cooper has programmed some of the most important projects at the company, including Detours, Sync mobile apps, and our rider-facing website. From fast code to fast cars, learn more about what excites this 2-year GMV vet about the world of transit.
1. What GMV project that you’ve worked on are you most proud of?
I’ve worked closely on Detours from the engineering side. I’m really passionate about this one because before Detours, it was either a lot of work for drivers and passengers, or nobody was even made aware of when a bus could make it to its stop. Another project of mine is Sync mobile, which helps our dispatchers continue their work on their phone, on the go. It’s a full connected system moving together between the computer and the phone, and I’ve really enjoyed helping bring that online.
2. What gets you most excited about the world of transit?
I think transit impacts a lot of people, and so by working for a company that’s interacting with transit, I know we’re impacting real people all across the country. Whether it’s small agencies, or very large cities, I get excited knowing the impact we’re having. That’s something I’m very passionate about.
3. What’s one of your favorite things about the GMV culture?
GMV is a very large company. We have people working in Europe and many other countries, and even though a lot of us are remote, we’re always on calls together, sending messages to each other, and working very collaboratively as a team. When we do get to meet together in person, it’s always exciting to see these digital faces come to life and hang out with smart people who are working on cool projects.
4. What’s a fun fact about you that you want others to know?
I really enjoy programming, so even when the workday closes out I’m writing more software in my free time. I honestly prefer programming to watching TV so I’m doing that all the time at home. If you get me away from writing software, I’m watching Formula 1 racing. I just really enjoy the sport.
